INSTRUCTOR: Clinton Marquardt,Sleep & Fatigue Specialist
COURSE HIGHLIGHTS: This introductory human factors training provides participants with an understanding of how human, management, and organizational factors influence human behaviour, workplace safety, and operational performance. Participants explore the evolution of human factors from traditional approaches focused on human error, ergonomics, and physical limitations to contemporary approaches that recognize the complex interactions between people, their working environments, management practices, and organizational systems.
The training emphasizes that human actions are influenced by identifiable conditions and that understanding and managing these influences is essential to optimizing human performance, improving safety, and enhancing organizational effectiveness. Participants learn how organizational culture, management decisions and practices, workplace conditions, and individual capabilities and limitations can positively or negatively influence human performance.
Through practical examples, demonstrations, interactive discussions, and exercises participants develop an appreciation of how these influences affect human behaviour, and how non-technical skills can improve safety and performance.
A key component of the training is the practical application of human factors analysis tools to understand the systems influencing human actions, develop effective mitigation strategies and apply non-technical skills to optimize human performance and organizational efficiency.
