ARC-CSI, road accident and fatigue

I was a guest speaker at this year’s ARC-CSI Crash Conference in Las Vegas.

This is a great international conference for accident reconstructionists and you really do have to get to it next year.  I had a great time thanks to the organizers, Scott Baker (owner and Senior Editor of Collision Publishing) and Rusty Haight (Director of the Collision Safety Institute).

If you attend next year’s ARC-CSI conference, you’ll get to see live crash demos like the ones from this year. Here’s a few of my favourite clips from this year.

This one is a broadside collision, also known as a right-angle, T-Bone or Auto Accident Broad Side (AABS) collision.

In case you didn’t catch it, there were 2 live people in the oncoming vehicle…Rusty Haight was the driver…don’t worry he’s a pro and has done this hundreds of times! I bet it is still exciting all these collisions later! This video has an inset in the lower right corner…watch the airbags deploy and keep Rusty safe.

One of the best visuals happened near the end of the day. It’s not often you get to see a ball of flames at a crash demo!

Thanks again to Scott and Rusty for the invitation to speak at this year’s ARC-CSI Crash Conference. For details about next year’s conference check their Web site:  http://www.arccsi.com
